Wow. Just ... wow. Would love to get in touch with you ASAP! My father's name is Terry Allen Belbin. I know very little of our family's heritage. We are in Canada.
I found no surname project on FTDNA related to Belbins. Do you know the Belbin haplogroup?
I have a recent pic of James Belbin headstone to Baie des Roches, QC. Where can I send it?
Recently found out that Henry William George Belbin is my granddad.
I know it's not Belbin family related but my mother Gloria Jean Rolfe when she was very young, used to live in the Belbins house with her parents Dennis and Kathleen Rolfe, Dennis was the owner of Rolfe garage in Romsey.
Have Belbins on my father's mother and father's sides in Newfoundland and Labrador. Currently looking into GGG grandfather Rheuben Belbin. Presume his side originally came from Dorset. Love reading about life and times past. 😃
Hello from the Antipodes. I am a descendant of Benjamin Belbin and Mary Rideout. Their grandson, Thomas Rose, came to Australia with his family in 1792 and was one of the first free settlers to arrive in the new colony. We've been here ever since . I'm 7th generation Australian, and my grandchildren 9th generation. Valuable website, so I hope it keeps going. Kind regards. Tony Fallon
Hi, My Great Grandfather's mother is Florence Sarah Belbin and his father is Alfred J Medway. My Great Grandfather is Sydney D Medway. Thank you.
Hi Terry, Been investigating the Belbin who originated from Christchurch, Hampshire, England, UK, (William Belbin) born 1812. Was a convict, transported to Tasmania, Aust. Do you think there could be a connection with your "mob"? (Family). Regards, Bob, Melbourne, Aust. 😄
Just found out about this website from a sales person at Future Shop in St. John's, NL. Cool site!
Hi. Just wondering if I have the right family tree. If so.... Can't believe we have our own website... This is amazing :D
Hi, Just checking in to see the updates, but I gather its been pretty quiet.. Happy searching... ;-)
What a wonderful and informative website, well done. I am a descendant of James Fordham and Lucinda Susan Spencer, their daughter Elizabeth Fordham married Charles Belben in 1853. I have information on the Fordham side of the family if anyone is interested. Does anyone know what happened to Elizabeth and Charles Belben and does anyone have any photos?
Hi , I am researching the family tree for my partner Malcolm John Belbin, as he was adopted and given another name. He only found out when his adoptive mother died that he was the illegitimate son of Joan Phyllis Belbin. My genealogist friend has found that he has a very large family in Surrey and the south of England. So we are on a fascinating quest now, Maybe a relative or two on here... An interesting site I will keep looking :-)
Good Afternoon, There are not too many Belbins in Canada but I think I am related to most of them. We have family in Kamloops, Quesnel, Edmonton and Moose Jaw. We tried to do a family tree but had some difficulty connecting back to UK. Glad to see someone take the bull by the horns.
Hi to all the Belbins from David, Jane and Rebecca. Originally from Poole in Dorset where my Dad was born and brought up (and still lives aged 80). I never knew we were so far flung!
GREAT website. I'm currently writing my husband's family history, and in doing research came across this website. Thanks so much for the opportunity to post a message. My husband's ancestors came from Hant's Harbour, Newfoundland. One of the persons in the Husson family tree was Emma "Amy" Pitts Husson, who married Henry Marshall Dicen Belbin in 1886. They immigrated to Lynn, MA in 1892. They had at least 8 children: Mildred, Alexander, Hulda, Cecile, William, Florence, Harold, and George. I have some info on each, but would like to learn more. By the way, took a trip to Hant's Harbour in June, 2010, and learned much about the Husson families. Cheers to your website!
Just wanted to say hi to all the Belbins.

My grandfather was Walter Belbin, grandmother was Mary Anne Belbin They had 3 daughters: Molly, Gwen and Lola.
I am not descended from any BELBINS but they do creep into my tree in a few places, in particular: MOSES4 BELBIN (JOHN3, WILLIAM2 BELBIN/BELLMAN, WILLIAM1 BELLMAN) was born November 24, 1833 in Seal Cove, Trinity Bay, and died Bet. 1871 - 1921 in Seal Cove, Trinity Bay. He married JOHANNA BANTON November 6, 1859 in Hant's Harbour District. She was born 1833 in Scilly Cove, Trinity Bay, and died Aft. 1921 in poss Seal Cove, Trinity Bay. I am related to the Bantons, way back on one of my lines. Johanna BANTON's parents are Gideon BANTON/Elizabeth GREEN.
Hi, I came across your website when searching Facebook for Marie Belbin. She was a childhood best friend from England who lived in Chester, Virginia for a couple of years. She had a sister (Madeleine) and brother (whose name I no longer remember). I don't suppose we will ever reconnect, but I every once in awhile I find another possible lead! The Marie I am looking for would have been born in late 1962 or 1963 (in case she happens to see this post!) Thank you!
Hi there. I'm from a load of Belbins from Southampton. Just had my own little girl, Anya Belbin and want to know more about our family. My dad and grandad tell me little bits. My dad Martyn Belbin told me about this site.
Hi Terry, Thanks for letting me view your great web site. I was so entertained with "Bits and Pieces" that I have run out of time. I'll be back soon. Jeannine.
Hello, I'm interested in where I fit into the Belbin clan. My grandfather was Chestley John Belbin. I believe he fished for cod in Newfoundland with his relatives at a young age. I believe he may have been related to Lloyd Belbin from New Chelsea, Newfoundland. I am unsure how he got to Newfoundland or if he was born there. I would like to know anything I can find out about my genealogy. Thank you, John Troy Belbin.
Thanks for such a wonderful page that tells me so much about my family, I am directly related to Belbin from my dad's side of the family. Most family is still in Tasmania. Strangely enough I am also related to Captain Bligh on my mothers side too. Keep up the wonderful work as it's of great value to us whom are related. I am on Facebook if you wish to add Sue England.
Hope to send info on Belbins in Melbourne. Thanks.
Hi Terry, I am interested in the Philo link, do you have any gaps you wish to fill? Tony
Hello all. Done little research for the past two years but hope to recommence in 2009. Happy researching. Cheers. Caroline
The Belbin ancestors are on my mother's side, as they are connected with the Cann family of Baltimore, MD. A Cann descendant and I found William Belbin buried in Baltimore Cemetery in Baltimore, MD USA a few weeks ago. You may want to check [www.findagrave.com] in about a month for an entry for him and his wife. There are a few more Belbins in Baltimore Cemetery, we found two but three seemed to be in an unmarked plot. I'm glad to see there are other descendants out there! Bob Pool
You have my grandmother Maud Caroline Clair (births 1888) on your site. Is she connected to you at all as I have done a lot of research into my family tree? Please feel free to contact me via email.
Great site. Cannot wait till you have the Australian site up & running. Wow, a great site, Thank you.
Hi!!! Just looking in to my family history. May Elizabeth Belbin 1894-1951 is my Great Grand Mother (who married Graham Rayphil Thurley 1891-1938) and I understand she was a decendent of James Belbin 1771-1848. My Grand Father was Graham Douglas Thurley (1918-1995) and my mother is Pamela Noreen Thurley. Any information would be greatly received. Nicole.
Hi Terry....congratulations on your new set up. Hope all is well with you.
Thanks for the help your wonderful site has given me in researching my great great grandmother Hester Belbin b. 1818 of Motcombe & Shaftesbury. Mattie
Hi Terry, I am Erin who has been researching Belbins, who come into my Carter line. I have been researching since 1988. You have a great site. Very interesting and keep up the good work!!! Cheers from Down Under.
Hello. I am the daughter of John Belbin, and niece of Patricia (Belbin) Baines, who sent me the link to this site. I just wanted to say a quick hello and comment that it's pretty cool to see a website about Belbins. I just took a quick peek today, but I hope to continue to visit this site many times to come.
Hi Terry, The new site looks great! Best, Maggie
I am the grandson of Frederick William Belbin of Baltimore, MD., who was born about 1897. I am searching for information of other relatives, in particular Charles Terhune Belbin Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Belbin.
Great website. Just had a quick look and was amazed at the amount of James Belbins through the years. Will have a more detailed look soon. Thanks.
Great Site
Hello, Like the website but a tad disapointed that there doesn't appear to be any Tasmanian BELBIN/BELBEN's listed. William BELBEN was transported to Van Diemans Land in 1843.
